The 2012 Silver Spokes Wallace Omnium
was held on Friday, July 6th and Saturday July 7th
in and around historic downtown Wallace Idaho.
The Omnium was held under a USA Cycling
Permit under pleasant weather conditions,
and was sponsored by
Coeur d'Alene Velo
Racers Cycling Club.
Proceeds benefited
The Friends of the Coeur d'Alene Trails.
The Omnium consisted of three events.
- The Hercules Time Trial was
a 2.5 mile out-and-back timed race on the north frontage road along
the river between Wallace and Silverton beginning at 7 PM Friday.
The 16 riders started beside the ruins of the
Hercules Mill with the turn-around just before this temporarily closed road
merged with the south frontage road.

- The Dobson Pass Hill Climb
was a tough 5.0 mile climb from Wallace (2728') to
Dobson Pass (4090') for 29 riders
beginning at 10 AM Saturday morning.

- The Wallace Criterium was
a flat, fast four corner course through downtown Wallace.
Four classes of 38 riders
raced for varying amounts of time on Saturday afternoon.
- 9 Category 5 Senior Men raced for
25 minutes @ 3:45
- Category 1/2/3/4 Masters Over 40 raced for
35 minutes at 4:20
racers consisted of four groups
- 5 men were 40-49
- 6 men were 50-59
- 3 men were 60-99
- 2 women were 40+
- 7 Category 3/4 Senior Men raced for
45 minutes @ 5:05
(plus Jennifer Gaertner who raced AGAIN with this group)
- 6 Category 1/2/3 Senior Men raced for
55 minutes @ 6:00

Medals were awarded to the top three in each event in each category.

thirty-eight (38) riders participated in this second Wallace Omnium,
up from 27 last year.
